Product Description
This Hydro-Boost hydraulic power brake booster is a retrofit for 1957-1976 Ford F250 and F350 Trucks. You can buy the booster by itself or use the drop down menus to see options like - master cylinders, hydraulic hoses, and chrome & powder coat, to make it a complete kit. If you have an F250 you will want to select a 1-1/8 bore master cylinder if you have the stock single piston caliper, and a 1-1/4 bore master cylinder if you have the stock dual piston caliper. If you had the stock dual piston caliper, you can also select a 1-5/16 bore master cylinder if you want to shorten the brake pedal stroke (as the larger piston will push more fluid in the same travel distance). There will be options for a Ford style master cylinder as well as GM, the choice is mostly about whether you want the brake line ports to end up on the fender side or the passenger side.
The answer to all of the problems associated with high performance vehicles. The Bosch Hydro-Boost is more powerful than factory vacuum boosters, and smaller than the 7" hot rod booster and can generate 1200 to 2000 psi at the calipers.
The Hydro-Boost is powered by pressure from the power steering pump and requires no vacuum. The other option is a vacuum pump with a small bore master cylinder that jacks up the pressure to the calipers, but small bore masters won't put out the volume needed to fill caliper pistons, and vacuum pumps won't keep up. You can also spend a lot of money on great big calipers, but they tend to be more demanding of volume and pressure, so they don't work unless you have a Hydro-Boost. It provides great valve cover clearance, and exhaust pipe clearance when frame mounted. The Hydro-Boost fits any where a vacuum booster does. It can use stainless braided hoses or rubber type. We have many direct replacements, our own retrofit applications, and can design anything else.
